First post in a while and straight into the big news – we are homeschooling this year! Not officially, as in Australia you generally can’t register to be “official” homeschoolers until your child is 6 years old. But we did make the conscious choice not to enrol Mr 4 in a preschool/kindy program this year, despite pretty much every other family we know doing so.
This was not an easy decision!
If you asked me a year ago, there is no way that I would have predicted that we would be homeschooling. Little man was attending a 3 yr old preschool program and seemed happy enough. I was busy researching all the possible school options in our new location. Yet here we are now, heading in a very different direction and our whole family is really excited about it!
In upcoming weeks I plan to share the information that has helped me, in the hope it may help others too. Why we have decided to homeschool and what factors we considered. The logistics of how home education works in Australia. What “preschool” looks like in our house. Great resources we have found. How our first weeks have gone.
For someone who has never known much about home education, it can seem hugely overwhelming at first. It doesn’t have to be! Stay tuned, follow us on Facebook and Instagram or sign up for email updates, and we will show you what homeschooling is like from the start.
